LIMITED SERIES FOR NOOTICA

Dark fusion was born from the collaboration between NOOTICA and EPSEALON. A common desire to create a whole new camouflage yet new in the manufacturing of wetsuit in large series. A lot of tests were carried out to find the color that would be really innovative out of the water and at the same time a really interesting camo once in immersion. This product is a NOOTICA exclusive and also a limited series !! It is a tasty mix of charcoal gray tones, black and flash of "GOLD" color which gives this camouflage a style and a character apart. Once in immersion are bluish and ocher colors which allow a perfect mimetism during the hunting action.

HI TECH CARBON REBEL SPEARGUN - OPEN AND CLOSED MUZZLE 

We had the opportunity to test the top product of the Turkish company Apnea, the REBEL CARBON HI TECH. It is a carbon speargun produced entirely in turkey according to a project they designed. The following data refer to the 105cm model that we received.

REBEL CARBON HI TECH

It is a very light weapon that, despite its size and the weight of the complete ready-to-fish accessories setup, can be easily handled with two fingers. It is equipped with an open muzzle with a tapered profile and minimal dimensions, provided with a double hole for housing the circular bands. It is equipped with grooves and pegs for the passage of the line on both sides in order to favor users who prefer the line release on both the right or left side.

The barrel is made of carbon and it is 28mm (external) in diameter and fits into the muzzle and the handle with a circular section but for almost its entire length it incorporates a shaft guide also made of carbon. The handle has an ergonomic grip but it is also supplied with the classic one, the user can then choose the grip he prefers as both are present in the package. It is equipped with sensitivity/stroke adjustment of the trigger by means of a wheel located just in front of the housing of the shaft back end. The safety has a sliding mechanism that can be operated with a single finger. It is located on the top of the handle. The release mechanism is in stainless steel although the trigger and line release can be misleading since they are made of plastic coated with a metal-like paint.

The accessory set includes two progressive circular bands (amber internally) with a very thin black external coextrusion. They are 16mm in diameter and 70cm + 67cm in length with dyneema wishbones. They get hooked onto a shaft (heat treated for greater resistance) of 6.5mm in diameter and 140cm in length equipped with sharkfin-like pins located respectively at 100cm, 120cm and 130cm from the tip. This means that the elongation coefficient of the bands (considering the last two fins) is 300% for the first circular and 330% for the second. The shaft has a classic conical tip, a sigalsub-like cone in front of the barb to enhance penetration and a single upper barb. Finally, it is equipped with a technopolymer reel capable of accommodating 50m of line with retractable folding knob.

The speargun measures 147cm overall (including the shaft) while only the weapon itself measures 137cm. This speargun is available in sizes 85, 95, 105, 115, 125 cm.

Together with this carbon version we also received the aluminum one, the REBEL ALUMINUM 90.

REBEL ALUMINUM 90

This is a speargun that besides the barrel and some details in the accessory set, maintains the same characteristics as the carbon version. The muzzle has a slim profile and is closed. It is equipped with a pair of elastic bands (same type as the carbon version), 18mm in diameter and 27.5cm in length and an articulated wishbone of 8cm in length. The latter gets hooked to the 130cm and 6.5mm diameter shaft equipped with only two notches (traditional, not sharkfin-like ones as for carbon) that are respectively at 112 and 122cm from the tip (always conical with upper barb and cone). The handle is identical, with the same characteristics while the barrel has always a cylindrical section with integrated aluminum shaft guide. The overall measure is 138cm while the weapon itself measures 115cm. It is available in 50, 60, 75, 82, 90cm version.

APNEA LEGEND TROOX SPEARFISHING WETSUIT MASK VISIO & FINS STORM 

In 2020 catalog of the Turkish company Apnea, in addition to the flagship product, the hi tech carbon rebel speargun, we find the Apnea Legend Troox wetsuit. You can understand the quality of the product from the way it is presented, in fact it would come to you in a printed and customized box/briefcase, which in addition to having a remarkable aesthetic value is very useful for storing the wetsuit in the seasons of inactivity.

The wetsuit is characterized by a predominantly brown camouflage suitable for a rocky sea bottom and its livery reminds that of a marble surface. The cut is anatomical and is made according to the Italian style with the highest attention to details as you can see at a glance. In fact, for example, the portion of the back as well as the chest one is obtained from a single sheet of neoprene without central seams (but only lateral) to ensure better comfort.

Large and super-padded chest loading support, heat-applied protections on forearms and knees and more comfortable neoprene inserts between the legs help user in his water activity by protecting him from abrasions. The outer lining is very elastic as it is made of ultra-stretch fabric and is made to resist over time. The closure of the jacket is with double plastic clips. The wetsuit is available in 5mm version and in sizes S-M-L-XL-2XL-3XL. Of course, the usual accessories such as socks and gloves also come with this wetsuit but with a slightly different camouflage. As for the socks, we are talking about a double-lined camouflage model without seams in the heel area and with a very simple cut. They are characterized by seams carried out with the GBS system, that is glued edges and sewn with blind passages. In regards to gloves we evaluated the “amara gloves" version, certainly for summer use with an excellent ergonomic cut. Both products are available in the same sizes as the wetsuit.

Apnea Storm fins

We also noted the Apnea Storm fins in technopolymer with interchangeable blade. They are characterized by medium stiffness blades and equipped with flaps on the terminal part to improve grip on the water. They are mounted on soft footpockets equipped with heel reinforced sole that completely envelop the foot and thanks to their flexibility allow the blade to flex adequately providing a high level thrust.

Visio mask

The visio mask equipped with a high flexibility soft tube and the Marseille model belt with a stainless steel buckle and a length of 160cm complete the overview of this company. The mask is a freediving designed model as it is characterized by a very small internal volume that does not affect the viewing angle which remains instead very wide. In fact, the design of its lenses with double tempered glass includes angles of 90 degrees at the outermost ends. Where you are used to have a plastic part of the framework in this model there are still the lenses that widen the view. The structure is combined with a very soft silicone and easy-to-use straps that can also be adjusted with one hand only.

PATHOS SUB ULTIMATE 

CARBON FINS FOR SPEARFISHING & FREEDIVING

The ultimate pathos are a clear improvement on the fins from the previous series called Abyss which were already internationally acknowledged for their excellent performance. They are part of a new set that includes the Maximum, the Ultimate and finally the Supreme. Each of them is intended for different uses and is characterized by different sizes although they constantly maintain some features such as design. The ultimate, the intermediate version, are intended for both medium-deep dives and long surface swimming and have excellently performed during competitions on the feet of Giacomo DeMola, Pathos sales manager and recognized international champion.

The carbon structure is composed of two different textures, the 285 T4 4 × 4 twill for the outer layers, in order to improve the breaking strength, and the 285 T2 2 × 2 twill for the core to offer an enhanced reactivity. The particular arrangement of the fibers also allows a double flexion generally called the S curve which is an indicator of efficiency and functionality as well as flexibility and this positively contributes to the emphasis of the user’s performance.

Further support to the athlete’s effort optimization is provided by other fin features such as the flap tip which thanks to its convex profile provides the “kicking” an enhanced thrust at the very end of the gesture, where usually the normal fins have exhausted their performance.

The very short foot pocket sides combined with extremely low water rails (about 15mm) that run along the entire length of the blade help to minimize their interference with the intrinsic properties of flexion of the carbon while maintaining their presence efficient. In fact, the low profile of the water rails manages to guarantee grip on the water (avoiding the drift) without weighing down the user's joints and the blade manages to flex without problems, guaranteeing the typical sound of a slab that sways in the air.

The blade surface exposed to thrust measures approximately 69cm in length (overall), approximately 7cm of which are represented by the flap while the width is approximately 19.5cm overall. The fold of the blade has an angle of 28°, an important measure that enhances the athlete's performance but requires a decidedly trained leg.

These are certainly high level fins whose performance at sea we will be shortly presenting.
